Frequently asked questions

Direct answers, including the uncomfortable ones

Engagement process, pricing structure, intellectual property, data handling and support terms. If your question is not here, ask us directly.

Engagement & process

How does a Cyntra engagement typically start?
With a free 45-minute discovery call. We discuss your situation and give an honest view on whether technology is the right answer. If it is, we outline the approach and indicative budget range. Significant builds then usually begin with a paid discovery engagement that produces documented scope, architecture and a defensible estimate before any build commitment.
Who owns the code and intellectual property?
You do. On final milestone payment, all intellectual property, source repositories and infrastructure accounts transfer to your organisation. Cyntra retains no license requirement over work we build for you. Licensed products (Admin Starter Kit) are the exception and are covered by their own licence terms.
Can you work with our in-house engineering team?
Frequently. We work as an embedded extension of internal teams, as a specialist capability alongside them, or as an independent reviewer of their plans. Our IT Consulting and Project Scope Review engagements exist specifically for the last case.

Pricing & payment

Why are some prices fixed and others quote-only?
Fixed-price work has scope we can define precisely upfront — a website package, a security audit, a chatbot deployment. Quote-only work (ERP, enterprise modernisation, marketplaces) has cost driven by variables specific to your estate: system count, data quality, entity structure and compliance scope. Rather than publish a misleading number, we scope those through paid discovery and then contract fixed-price phases.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes for most engagements — typically 30–50% depending on project size, with the balance against delivery milestones. Packages under $3,000 are payable in full upfront. Subscription products bill monthly with no deposit.

Delivery & scope

How do you keep projects from overrunning?
Fixed architecture before build, fortnightly demos against working software, and a written change-order process for anything outside approved scope. Overruns usually come from undefined scope rather than slow engineering, which is why we invest heavily in the discovery phase.
What happens if we need something outside the agreed scope?
We raise a change order with cost and timeline impact before doing the work. You approve or decline it. Nothing outside approved scope is absorbed silently or billed as a surprise.
What is your typical project timeline?
Website packages run four to nine weeks. Internal tools and integrations run two to eight weeks. Custom platforms and SaaS MVPs run 10–24 weeks. ERP and enterprise modernisation run six months to two years across phases, with value delivered each quarter rather than at the end.

Security & data

How do you handle our data during a project?
Production data is not used in development or test environments unless strictly necessary, and then only masked. Access is least-privilege and time-bound. Credentials live in a managed secret vault, never in code or configuration files. We sign NDAs before receiving any material and execute DPAs or BAAs where the data class requires them.
Are payment details safe on your platforms?
Card data never touches Cyntra infrastructure. All payment collection uses Stripe embedded checkout, so card details go directly to Stripe. We store only the transaction reference and status, which keeps your PCI scope at the lowest SAQ-A level.

Support & maintenance

What happens after launch?
Every engagement includes a post-launch support period (30–90 days depending on size) covering defects and stabilisation. Most clients then move onto a maintenance retainer or support package for continuous evolution. We do not require ongoing engagement, and we hand over everything needed for another team to take it on.
Will you support software you did not build?
Yes, after a handover assessment of the codebase and infrastructure. We report honestly on supportability, and if the code is in a state we cannot responsibly support we say so rather than take the retainer.

About the company

Where is Cyntra Technologies registered?
Cyntra Technologies is registered in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States, with its principal office in Richmond. We serve clients across the United States and internationally, and all contracts are governed by Kentucky law unless otherwise agreed.
How large are the projects you take on?
Our smallest engagements are around $1,500 (a security audit or website package) and our largest are multi-phase transformation programmes over 12–24 months. The common factor is defined scope with measurable business outcomes, not project size.

Talk to a senior engineer, not a sales desk. We will tell you honestly whether technology is the right answer — and what it should cost if it is.
